Useful InformationThe following information should be useful to you when considering a holiday in Side or Turkey, and staying at our place Booking Flights Antalya Airport is the destination airport when staying in Side. Flights are available from Manchester and Gatwick twelve months of the year, and from Glasgow, Newcastle and most other airports from March to November. Flight time from Manchester Airport is approx. 3hrs 45min. Several airlines run flights to Antalya, including Thomas Cook, First Choice, Thompson and MyTravel, and the list is growing constantly. Links are provided on this page to the most popular airlines. It's worth checking regularly for deals - our last flight cost us £70 each (+ tax) round trip! Note: When you arrive in Turkey, each member of your party requires an entry visa, which is simply a dated stamp in your passport. Visas cost £10 per person, children included, and must be paid in cash (Sterling or Euro). The good news is, visas last three months, so if you fancy a second trip... Transfer from the Airport Transfer from Antalya Airport to the apatement is approx. 45 minutes by car. Side is 60km by road from Antalya Airport, along the main Antalya / Alanya highway. If you are hiring a car for your stay, this can be collected at the airport. If not, a taxi from the airport to Magnolia Apartments, Side will cost approx £60 each way. However, if you wish we can arrange your transfer when booking our apartment, as the people who manage our apartment over there provide a transfer service. The cost for this is presently £35 for up to 4 passengers, £45 for up to 8 passengers (each way), paid to us in advance. As well as being cheaper than a taxi, the other bonus to this is that the driver knows exactly where the apartment is! Once you get to Side it is very easy to get around on foot, or by Dolmus (local public bus - very cheap but can be crowded), and taxis are quite inexpensive. However, if you do wish to hire a car, Eurocar are recommended. If you are driving from the airport I will provide full directions. Eating in and going out If you plan to eat in, as we have said on other pages, we provide all the usual cooking and eating facilities. There is a small market approx. 50m from Magnolia apartments, plenty on the main Side road and a large supermaket (Migros) just on the main higway at the Side turn, about 1km from the apartment. If you wish to eat out, Side is still a very inexpensive place to eat. Saray restaurant, on the way to the beach, gives fantastic service and great food, there are plenty of options down by the harbour overlooking the Mediterranean, and there is even a very good Chinese restaurant on Side main road called China Court! We have made a note in the apartment of the places we have enjoyed, and left a notebook so that you can do the same. During the day, many beach front bars and restaurants vie for your custom. Some will approach you as you stroll along the beach offering you sunbeds, however it should be noted that many of these are on public beach , which means no charge for sunbeds and no compulsion to eat or drink there. Some areas to the lefe of Side old town by the ancient ruins do charge, a few Lira per day. Note: The currency of Turkey is the Turkish Lira, though almost everywhere will accept Euro. However, the cheapest way to buy in Turkey is to pay using Lira, as you will lose out slightly on currency exchange rates at restaurants, though the cost of living is so cheap here, it's hard to notice! The exchange rate is approximately 3 Lira to the Pound. Arrangements and cost of staying at our place The bookings page links to an area where you can see the calendar with availability and prices, which obviously vary depending on the time of year. The price you see per week is the total inclusive price for one week stay, part weeks will be charged appropriately. The only additional costs are for transfers if required, plus if you would like bed linen laundry and/or room cleaning during your stay, these cost £25 for room cleaning and £10 for laundry per visit (These costs are what we are charged for these services). Other costs during your stay, such as electricity, gas, room cleaning & laundry after your visit, etc. are included in the price of booking. When booking the apartment, we will talk and email you with all the details you will need to get there and enjoy your stay there. Keys for the apartment will either be posted to you, or we will have them available at our apartment manager's office, which is easy to locate in Side. If you are using their transfer service, the driver will take you directly to the office for keys, and on to our apartment. Note: When booking we ask for a £100 deposit against breakages and/or key loss. This can be arranged either during booking through the booking calendar or directly by sending us a cheque for this amount. Obviously, as soon as you return the keys and the apartment is checked, your deposit will be returned to you immediately. If done though the booking calendar your credit card is debitted with the deposit amount, and re-credited on completion.
